(1)Small-diameter artificial vascular graft materials: focusing on the construction of multifunctional bioactive vascular scaffold materials. My team’s research involves the optimization of biodegradable micro-nano vascular materials prepared by electrospinning and melt-spinning with precision-controlled pore structure, fiber orientation, mechanical properties, and degradation behavior. We also modify vascular materials to convey bioactivity and functionalization (through affixed growth factors, anticoagulant molecules, endothelial cells/receptors, vasoactive substances). Together with our studies into achieving rapid cell ingrowth, endothelialization, functional vascular layer formation, and complete degradation of implanted materials, we aim to achieve the complete regeneration of blood vessels that are structurally and functionally the same as natural blood vessels – ensuring their long-term maintenance of patency.
(2) Stem cell therapy for ischemic diseases: research into the use of stem cell therapy for myocardial ischemia, lower limb ischemia, renal ischemia, and other ischemic diseases. Mainly, we use mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) in combination with vector materials, such as bioactive hydrogels. We aim to understand how to regulate the proliferation, differentiation, and secretome profile of stem cells to improve the survival rate of transplanted stem cells. We have also developed novel molecular probes to trace the behavior, function, and fate of transplanted stem cells in vivo. In addition, we aim to understand the effects of material and engineering methodology on stem cell function and the regulation of exosome secretion, to maximize the therapeutic effect, stemness, and survival rate of engrafted stem cells.
(3) Other biological materials, including drug-controlled release, nano-drugs, nano-vaccines: including nerve, skin, cartilage, and other applications of regenerative materials on tissue repair.
